VERY strange signal

Ive never seen this before. Looks like some wayside signals are on the other side of the mast.

Yup it's been on this forum before... but has been quite awhile, so some of the newer members might be seeing it for the first time.

Don't know if you noticed in the video... but the "regular" mast lights on the signals are synched with the swinging of the wig wag. Pretty cool.

That, is so cool.

I wonder how it would be if they added a gate. (obviously it would have to be on a separate mast, but you get the picture)

The Marion, IL wig-wag was installed after the rule that wig-wags weren't allowed in new installs, so they had to add regular mast lights to get around the rule.

I found another video of the Marion wig wag in operation... (warning... the horn in this video is VERY loud!):

Also, the video below shows the "wayside" signal (which appears to be an indicator for the train that the signal is functioning correctly). Starts at 4:19 in the video.

The below video also features some of the other signals on this line... one rather unique one that has several lights that look like traffic light signals, not railroad crossing signals.... something that Mike did not appreciate too much if I remember correctly. You can see that crossing starting at the 20 second mark.

Were there pictures of the Marion crossings on the site at one time, or is my mind just playing tricks on me? I thought there was a crossing there that also had some older cantilevers paired with wood A-frame gates.

If that's the signal I think it is, doesn't it have flasher units now as well?
