Western Cullen Hayes E Bells

Post by BBT609 »

These odd bells( in which the FEC Railway( Florida East Coast Railway ) is switching to ), dont sound like normal bells. My question is, is there anyway in these bells or any other could you embed another sound into it?

I like those bells, they are WCH model # 0777. We use a lot of NEG e-bells, model # NEG-1210 EBL their too quiet for me.
As far as electronic bells go their simple and nice. Electronic chip witha sound recording plays over a speaker.
If you know what your doing you can take a circuit board out and replace it.
One my friends is doing that at his crossings.

I speak my mind, if you don't like that oh well. I'll have you fill out a hurt feelings report and submit that to my office.

Historically, WCH E bells absolutely suck. They sound horrible, and do not pass for any real "bell" I have ever heard.

Safetran, GS and NEG E bells are much more authentic sounding. This sounds more authentic also, and not like an air raid siren like their other ones.

Of course, thats because Owens put in a GS circuit board in it......
Just the facts, ma'am.

WCH E Bells sound the least like real bells, but they do have a pretty 'neat' sound to them, which is why I like them.

WC Hayes Bells can SOUND like a real bell if the treble( muffle ) of the bell clip was higher. Their mechanical bells sound really good( I have one in my garage ) and I like Safetran E bells alot better than WC Hayes or GSI. GSI is too common, their bells are made from a PVC Pipe :LOL2: . Seriously.

I would like to own any type of Safetran bell, mechanical and electronic :) Type 1 sounds awesome :P

Here is a clip of it^^^^^
