Is this a bell?
I stumbled upon a KCS crossing cantilever with a strange part on top of the bell area. Is that a bell, or something else?

Re: Is this a bell?
What are those for? And do you know what crossing companies make those things?

Re: Is this a bell?
you'd normally see those on the top of old relay cabinets. wires would be passed through them and up to power lines.
Re: Is this a bell?
I've seen a couple of older signals wired up that way (with the wires coming out of the pinnacle on top). Probably was the way that signal in the above picture was originally wired, then at some point they upgraded to underground wiring. Maybe when they upgraded the lights to 12 inchers?aspengf8 wrote:you'd normally see those on the top of old relay cabinets. wires would be passed through them and up to power lines.

This signal appears to be an ex-wig wag because of the relay case at the bottom of it. Nice find there!Trainzmandude2012 wrote: Here's proof in Roanoke, VA:https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Roanoke, ... ,,1,-24.91
