Re: odd gate light
These have already been seen on the site. Here's one example: http://www.rxrsignals.net/Kansas/Topeka/25/
I think they may be from WCH, but that isn't confirmed.

Re: odd gate light
Ahh. I've seen these before. They are the new and brighter LED REDs. They can be found mostly around areas with very heavy train traffic. Remington, VA has purchased a few of those. Only 2/5 of the crossings in Remington aqquired the LED REDs. They are super bright at night. They do have a very weird look to them, but they are much more visible at far distances.

Re: odd gate light
EXTRA EXTRA!! After 5 years of wondering these gate lights might have been identified. SACRT is using the same gate lights.(Saw a video by Railfan Cal) I asked about the gate lights and verified. These lights are made by RACO.
If you want to see the conversation I had with him see:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEL_tTYEDeQ
I'm not 100% sure they are RACO so don't say I'm being crazy.
(I'm having trouble with video URL's.)

Re: odd gate light
I'm pretty sure he meant RECO, and not RACO. RACO has been non-existent for a few decades now.
Crossing pictures from Plant City, FL are finally here! viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2538

Re: odd gate light
No it was aquired by Hubbell and currently focuses on machinery. I guess these gate lights were the last railroad crossing item they produced before it changed to making machinery.ZachL wrote:I'm pretty sure he meant RECO, and not RACO. RACO has been non-existent for a few decades now.

Re: odd gate light
I think that's a different RACO, the history page doesn't mention anything about Transport Products Corp., railroad crossing signals, or Safetran. The RACO that made crossing equipment later became Safetran and that was well before LEDs became widely used on crossing signals.Trainzmandude2012 wrote:No it was aquired by Hubbell and currently focuses on machinery. Re: odd gate light
Why am I getting yelled at? Dicuss this with Railfan Cal. I'm the who asked it, made sure and Railfan Cal specifically said I know the lights on the gates on the SACRT light rail side are WCH gate LEDs. On the Union Pacific side I think the gate LEDs are RACO LEDs..

Re: odd gate light
We're aren't yelling at you, we are just saying that there are two different RACOs. Besides, "RACO" is just an acronym.
