Crossing Heaven:The Norfolk Southern Story

Many years ago, there was this place I used to go to that was near the Charlotte Amtrak station that was a couple of feet away from the parking lot. I was usually full of stacks of bells, lights and crossbucks! From time to time they also had stacks of gates, mechs, relay boxes, and searchlights! Well I knew a guy by the name of Jack Gibson who was a NS employee, and he used to give me everything I ever needed from signs to lights, he even gave me a searchlight! But as the years went by, lets say somewhere near 2012, this signal graveyard started to become empty and empty. Today it is no longer there, well the pile at least. All the signals vanished! Only some of the new L.E.D pairs and new poles and E-Bells are in a enclosed chained facility within the NS yard are still there. I wonder why this happened! So I have always had great experiences with the Norfolk Southern. I wonder why the UP and BNSF have to be so different! Whenever I need something from them, which is almost never they always give me a big no! I have a couple of friends who always tell me that west coast railroads tend to be stricter than east coast railroads. I do not know whether to consider that to be completely true, but whatevs

Here is a satellite view of the scrap piles of signal parts, but because its 2014 satellite imagery there is less than when I first encountered this place in 2008.
