The image is from 2011... and unfortunately, based on the satellite view, I'm thinking it may be gone. I think the shadow would look a bit different.

Yea, it's most likely gone based on the shadow. Looking at the one on street view, it'd be obvious by the fact that there'd be two shadows that joined together.

And this video from 2012 confirms it.
Well, :Censored:

Good grief, what's more rare now? Wigwags or A-framed gates? :Eeeeek:

I've actually never thought about that before! :Scared: Kind of makes ya wonder. I actually can't even think of a public crossing in the US that still has a wigwag or wigwags with the exception of the one in the middle of nowhere in Colorado and with the ones in Richmond, California that have been upgraded to modern gated signals but the wigwags are preserved. I can't really think of a crossing that still has an A-frame gate either. The same can pretty much be said about Griswold Rotating banners. Although there is this pair in Minneapolis that still existed in 2011 so they might still exist! https://www.google.com/maps/@45.0100582 ... 312!8i6656
And plus I'm pretty sure there are still some Griswold rotating banner signals still on public crossings (active or not) but just have had the stop sign removed along with the rotating mechanism no longer functioning.

I'm pretty sure there are no "STOP" lights left on active public crossings, I'm not too sure about abandon public in the US crossings though, maybe in Argentina. Kind of an interesting thing to think about.

Sorry for getting off topic!

It's okay, it's kinda relevant to the discussion. Of the two (wigwags and wishbone gates), I'd say the latter is rarer. I want to say that numbers in the double digits of the former are still around, but the latter is only in service at two crossings in Dallas, Texas. Though that count doesn't include Six Flags over Texas, which uses wishbone gates, but they don't appear to be the "standard' wishbone gates.

I suppose the count will go up by one if we ever find out which crossing in Mississippi supposedly received the old wooden gates from Five Points Road in Chickamauga, GA.
They/Them for me, please.

While wishbone gates are easy to find on Metro tracks in Melbourne, they very rare on V/line tracks nowadays. Even then, most wishbone gates in Melbourne are made of aluminium instead of wood. Only a few crossings still have wooden gates...

That sounds interesting, so this crossing had it's gates re-installed on another public crossing?!

If what a signal maintainer for that line's Facebook comment is to be believed, apparently so.

Do you happen to know which line it's on, or maybe town?

Nope. All I heard is that the gates were apparently shipped to somewhere in Mississippi after they were removed. I almost wonder if the one for sale at the antique store in Paint Rock, AL may have actually come from the crossing. However, since multiple crossings in the area had wooden gates until sometime within the past decade or two, there's no telling where that gate arm came from.

I have a question. When did they start making 'flat' gates?
