Nice find! I don't think I've seen a setup like that before.

I wonder if they operate like normal crosswalk signals at an intersection or they have their own operation.

I don't think those have been posted here before, I don't recognize them.
How odd. Reminds me of some light-rail crossings in the northeast. Do have to wonder how those work though...
They/Them for me, please.

I found a famous fail-safe crossing! :TUP1:

--------------
Actually it appears there is more than one! So maybe the crossing above ins't the famous one.

--------------
Kind of odd, I think they did this because of a utility pole.

--------------
Kind of odd, I wonder if it is because of another utility pole?

Found an old wishbone gate in Charter Township, Michigan. The gate on the opposite side of the crossing has been replaced but for some reason, this wishbone remains. In this shot, the mech holding the newer style gate appears to be malfunctioning:

A Closer shot of the wishbone gate:

The other side of the crossing with the failing gate:

Actually, I think the gate is positioned like that so it doesn't hit the overhead power poles.

That's exactly the reason why it isn't all the way up. It would be bad if the gate were to strike the power lines. Here's a few crossings on the site like that which have gates not all the way up to avoid hitting power lines:

That wishbone gate has actually been discussed before and is long-gone now:

This crossing in my hometown is like this, however it's days are numbered as they are pushing to put in an underpass here:

I've always wondered it this causes extra wear on the gate motor... having to hold the gates in that position?

For some reason they removed the wishbone gates at Crossroads Village! :Awww: At least the old signals are still there.
