The majority of the people are ethnically Ashkenazi Jews and the majority of people in both cities speak Yiddish as a mother language and use it as a daily language. Even though they're not the only towns in the United States where English isn't the dominant language, both towns have some of the highest percentages of people who said that they spoke English "not well" or "not at all."
