Same with Metro, they'll put e-bells on crossings being removed.
Yes and LED lights in some cases (was it Murrumbeena?). Guess you don't have to be very careful with money when the tax payers are picking up the bill.
Actually, it was Clayton Road which had the LED upgrade. But in July, the Murrumbeena crossing also had an LED upgrade and some strange modifications done to it. I posted pictures I've found of them on Page 73 of this thread.
Cool, thanks
Does the crossing at Royal Park still have hybrid bells? I was watching a video and it's a nice crossing. Didn't see it on your m-bell list so I guess the bell Nazis got to it
Actually just found it, I was looking for Royal Park but that's only the name of the station lol.

I'm pretty sure it does. It's listed as "Poplar Road, Parkville" on the list. (Parkville is the suburb where Royal Park station and the crossing is located).
Chances are, all the remaining m-bells will likely be replaced before they even complete the Level Crossing Removal Program.
Metro, why do you keep removing Mechanical bells?!

Thanks, it was my mistake It's a nice classic looking crossing so I'm sure the bell Nazis would have it in their sights. I guess they will be able to recover the e-bells from the removed crossings and use them to replace even more hybrid bells

I'm pretty sure that's what they're doing as I've seen a couple of crossings receive E-Bells that appear to be second hand (as they look beat up and dirty). Last time I was at Royal Park the Hybrids were still there, however the bell on the Upfield side of the crossing was still acting up (skipping a few beats, occasionally going silent for a couple seconds). The bell has actually been doing this for a few years now and nothing has been changed!

Guess what? The Metro bell nazis have struck again! This time, the victim is High Street, Reservoir.
This crossing is up for removal, so either Metro are being idiots or they saw what McK&H Aust. said earlier in the thread and thought "You know what? Let's replace the hybrid bells despite the crossing being up for removal".
I have to agree with you Chris96, as the new bells at High Street are Type 2's.

Thanks for the information, nice to hear that the hybrid bells are still hanging on. It's a wonder that the faulty bell hasn't been replaced yet, but then again Metro seem only to like replacing the perfectly functional bells!

Really sad to see more hybrid bells wastefully being replaced I'd better be careful what I say in my posts, don't want to be giving Metro any ideas!
What will the bell Nazis do for entertainment once all the m-bells have gone?

They've started replacing the WCH gate mechs and Barker Technics E-Bells on the upfield line now... tons of fun left for them
I thought the WCH gate mechs on the Upfield line were installed in the 1990's when they upgraded the line and abolished all of the hand operated crossing gates? Are they replacing them with newer WCH ones or Siemens? No doubt they would be using GS E-bells to replace the Barker Technics ones, it's a shame because they are a unique bell.

Yep all correct. Not even in service for 20 years, and their already being targeted.. Albert Street and Dawson street now have Siemens gate mechanisms, with Dawson have type 3 e bells and the other having type 2s.
Barry road Upfeild also had its Barker Technics bells replaced a few years ago. I didn't go far up the Upfeuld line, so I'm sure even more have been replaced...
Metro, why are you so bad at maintaining your railway crossings??
