Re: Tracks out of service
Depending on how long the line has been out of service, it may have never seen a CSX train at all; CSX still does own former railroad right-of-way in a lot of spots including those served by its predecessors. However, I'd think it's safe to say that it has considering the condition of the signals and the tracks not being viciously overgrown.NathanFromEngland wrote:Looks to a CSX line, these signs make me suspicious though.

It at least had been "in service" long enough for several of the signals to be early 2000s installs.ZachL wrote:Depending on how long the line has been out of service, it may have never seen a CSX train at all; CSX still does own former railroad right-of-way in a lot of spots including those served by its predecessors. Also, I don't think I've ever seen a RED CSX DOT tag before...

Not sure on why this Mast Mount is place so high than you typically see a crossing mount on the other side of the crossing.NathanFromEngland wrote:Looks to a CSX line, these signs make me suspicious though.

Normally you would see something like this if the land elevation is steep, but the landscape is near flat.

Re: Tracks out of service
My guess would be for clearance? The signal is very close to the road. Having the lights high up would avoid them getting sideswiped by most vehicles. Cheaper than a cantilever.freebrickproductions wrote:I'm thinking the road signs located ahead of the signal:TheSignalMan2000 wrote:Not sure on why this Mast Mount is place so high than you typically see a crossing mount on the other side of the crossing.NathanFromEngland wrote:Looks to a CSX line, these signs make me suspicious though.
