Interesting! Guess I should've had a bit more looks at this intersection.cabman701 wrote:It's a special signal for stagecoaches. They open the fence and activate the signals. Kind of like a pedestrian crossing or a signal for fire stations.ToledoRailfan wrote:I'm confused...

It looks like Knott's Berry Farm might have stables for some of their horses out in that field when you look at the satellite view. That crossing is how they get them in and out of the park safely.

Is it just me, or do the bottom amber lights on some Y-Y-R signals look a bit darker than most traffic signal amber lights?

This setup is pretty interesting as well, there is only one pair of signals. They "activate" when a train approaches, but they don't warn motorists of a train (although they can be used as that though), they warn motorists of passengers boarding the train from station, hence why there is only one pair of signals. I wonder if they activate when freight trains come through.

There is also a blackout signal as well.

That's because it appears that those are Red LEDs, making them R-Y-R signals. BTW, most people list the colors (and/or indication sizes) from the top down.ToledoRailfan wrote:Is it just me, or do the bottom amber lights on some Y-Y-R signals look a bit darker than most traffic signal amber lights?

Are you sure about that? They don't look dark enough. And if they were R-Y-R, I'd think they'd have a stop sign there as well.freebrickproductions wrote:That's because it appears that those are Red LEDs, making them R-Y-R signals.ToledoRailfan wrote:Is it just me, or do the bottom amber lights on some Y-Y-R signals look a bit darker than most traffic signal amber lights?

I've seen it both ways I think. I use to do it the other way (found that out by searching through my posts in a Facebook group), I must've gotten mixed up at one point.freebrickproductions wrote: BTW, most people list the colors (and/or indication sizes) from the top down.![]()

Also, the lenses on the signals are tinted red, though it isn't as dark as the other reds due to the other reds having strobe tubes on them.

But why is there no stop sign near the signals? There really isn't a reason to stop there anyways...freebrickproductions wrote:Yea, I'm sure.ToledoRailfan wrote:Are you sure about that? Re: Google Street View
A flashing red indication has the same meaning as a stop sign, though it's entirely possible that the town is misusing the flashing red.ToledoRailfan wrote:But why is there no stop sign near the signals? I know, that is why I pointed out that there isn't a stop sign and how there isn't a reason to stop unless the signals are solid red.freebrickproductions wrote:ToledoRailfan wrote:freebrickproductions wrote:Yea, I'm sure.ToledoRailfan wrote:Are you sure about that? Could be possible. Although to me the lights look more yellow than red.freebrickproductions wrote: , though it's entirely possible that the town is misusing the flashing red.

This is interesting! The Canadian Railway Museum has a steam locomotive on a part of a railroad bride on display!
