Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
Not sure if this has been posted before, but I found this document when trying to look up that mystery e-bell in Watertown, TN:

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
So I was able to get a quick pic of the Sky/Overton Road crossing from the car, which is now in the middle of grade separation. As you can see there is now orange cables wrapped around the gateless signal closest to me. Also, if you look between the yellow traffic light pole and the gatless signal you can see that one of the crossings lights has fallen down.

Also I just saw this video on Daniel Andrews Facebook. It says that Heatherton Road, Corrigan Road and Chandler Road will all be removed by the end of summer (Fubuary).... The type 3 E bells wouldn’t have even been on the crossing at Corrigan Road for a year before being removed... but of a waste. https://www.facebook.com/DanielAndrewsM ... 987843364/
Also LXRA set up all the roadworks signs on Seaford Road today. Wouldn’t be surprised if they did the same in Carrum as well. Kinda glad that Seaford Road is going though because trying to turn right from Railway Parade onto Seaford Road can take over 15 minutes sometimes in peak hour because of the way that the traffic lights are set up. I’ve seen 6 trains go past before before being able to go across.

Metro, why are you so bad at maintaining your railway crossings??

Some ignoramus in the comments is going on about how people opposed to this stuff are troglodytes.Username1 wrote:

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
It's a long story, but there are some people opposed to the idea of the tracks being elevated several stories high near their backyards in order to remove crossings between Caufield and Dandenong. This debacle has been going on for nearly two years now, and I'm pretty sure it's too late to do anything about it now. I think they'll probably now resort to attempting to throw Daniel Andrews out of office at the next state election (in November). I honestly think he's a loon, not to mention he never shuts up about his policies.LARDLOGO wrote:Some ignoramus in the comments is going on about how people opposed to this stuff are troglodytes.Username1 wrote:

Metro, why do you keep removing Mechanical bells?!

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
Saw this one about an hour ago now. It says that the boom gates will go down one last time on January 29th. Goodbye to the last remaining (but non functional) teardrop bell in Melbourne... Which also happens to be my favourite suburban crossing...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
It is a bit of a shame. I'm hoping the bell will go to storage at Puffing Billy, like lots of other stuff goes. To be honest, I'm a bit more disappointed in Chandler road going, as it's the last crossing to have a working black hybrid bell on the Metro network... and it sounds so healthy too!Username1 wrote:Saw this one about an hour ago now. I've got footage of all three that will be gone with the bridges over the top, so I'll be uploading them next

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
Found another Pedestrian crossing in NSW which uses actual crossing bells rather than yodaalarms.
It's located at Zig Zag station and it uses two WCH m-bells, but I think I saw a video showing that they've been replaced with WCH e-bells.

Yes the crossing at Zig Zag now has WCH e-bells, pretty sure the m-bells were replaced around late 2015 or early 2016.TrickyMario7654 wrote:Found another Pedestrian crossing in NSW which uses actual crossing bells rather than yodaalarms.

Was looking up information on Dunmore Quarry and found this document http://acquia-prod.boral.com.au/sites/d ... 160817.pdf
Reading from the bottom of page 3, it seems that Sydney Trains own some land at Dunmore Quarry and are proposing to develop their own quarry on the site. It would be done in another couple of years once Bombo Quarry has ceased operating. Sadly it would mean the end of this gateless crossing at Bombo, as the site would most likely be turned over to residential development (there is a large demand for housing in the area).

Since those images were taken, both the GS e-bell and the WCH m-bell have been replaced by WCH e-bells. Here is a more recent view https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-34.653 ... 312!8i6656
Any expansion at Dunmore Quarry would also likely involve an upgrade to the siding, and possibly the crossings there.
Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
Well, it appears as though Victoria's railways are finally ditching the Safetran Type 3's in favor of WCH E-Bells (about time!!)
I found this video showing what are probably Victoria's first ever WCH E-Bells installed at a new gated crossing on the Ararat-Maryborough Line. You can see and hear them at 0:21 in this video:

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
That's great news, will be nice to have a wider variety of bells. All we need now is for Metro to start using WCH bells too (not holding my breath!).chris96 wrote:Well, it appears as though Victoria's railways are finally ditching the Safetran Type 3's in favor of WCH E-Bells (about time!!)![]()
Wonder if Siemens will eventually bring out an improved model of their e-bell to counter the drop in sales?
