Great work on this list although I’m pretty sure there’s more than that . I’m guessing you’ve not got more because we don’t know what’s there because of street view?

I am still in the process of working on this list so it'll take a bit of timeApplehead137 wrote: Sat Sep 14, 2019 5:57 am Great work on this list although I’m pretty sure there’s more than that . Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
Good the crossings with hybrids are unchanged and also good that Millers Road, Seaholme still has its black and white gates and pedestrian boom gates. I wouldn't have shouted at the lady even though she ended up going through the crossing when it was activating as she could've got angry and physically assaulted you.
I happen to have found a video of this Nine News Melbourne segment from 2010 which is on level crossing safety about a GPS alerting drivers about when aa train approaches a crossing. It shows the Glenferrie Road level crossing in Kooyong and at the start of the story it incorrectly says that it's in Hawthorn. It also shows the Madden Grove level crossing in Burnley when it had a Safetran mechanical bell and a hybrid bell. You can hear both bells in the video:

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
Today we went for a drive to Melbourne so I could film some stuff for my YouTube channel and here is what I got filmed:
- I filmed the railway infrastructure at the Sunshine and Roofing and did a video making the teardrop bell and hybrid bell sound by using a metal post to reach both bells.
- I then filmed the Aviation Road level crossing at Laverton and the road bridge is now open to both lanes of traffic the crossing infrastructure is still in place and activates when a train comes through, the crossing is closed for traffic, but not closed for pedestrians. I asked one of the workers when they're to remove the level crossing infrastructure and they said in about 4 weeks, but there was no day for it, I'm still hoping to get the hybrid bell which sounds till the gates lower off the crossing when they remove all the crossing infrastructure.
- I then filmed the Hudsons Road level crossing at Spotswood and the hybrids and Westinghouse gate mechs still survive.
There were some rail workers at the axle counter relay box next to the crossing (two of them Metro workers) I told them about General Signals Adjusted Type 1's and how they fail very quickly and also how the screws allow water to leak in. I don't what they said though. I also told them about the hybrid bell replacing and they said that some people complain to them being to loud for them to listen too and then they replace them, this would be one of the reasons why Metro have been replacing mechanical bells. He also told me that Hudsons Road's hybrids were fine and not too loud and didn't need replacing which is good.
- I then checked out the disused Webb Dock Line and the Wharf Road crossing is still the same since I last visited it in January this year. Unfortunately the crossing going into the power station has had the bell on the side of the test switch cabinet removed and the door to the test switch's left is also now locked up.

The signal with the crossbuck is also on a leaning pretty badly as well. Also on the signal which used to have it's bell they have attached a new pole with a security camera on top to the top of the signal.

Lorimer Street is still the same since I checked it out in January this year, I was also going to do another video of me making the hybrid bell sound, but there vehicle parked next to the relay box and if I was to throw stones at the bell it would easily hit the vehicle so I couldn't throw stones at the bell to get it to sound.
- I then filmed the Ramsden Street level crossing at Clifton Hill and the Barker Technics ebells and Westinghouse gate mechs still survive.
- I then filmed the Oakover Road level crossing at Preston and the hybrids and Westinghouse gate mechs still survive.
- Unfortunately the hybrids at Murray Road, Preston have sadly been replaced.
The side which had the dead hybrid now has a General Signals Type 3 ebell and the other side has a General Signals BLOODY ANNOYING AJUSTED TYPE 1!!!

The Adjusted Type 1 ebell is a dark shade of grey like what Poplar Road, Parkville has

My final crossing I filmed was at Keon Parade, Reservoir and the hybrids and Westinghouse gate mechs still survive.
I filmed one side while my mum's friend Cindy filmed the other.

Rip Murray road hybrids :( sad to hear they trashed it with an adjusted type 1. Im glad that I saw them before they were gone though.Level Crossing Fan wrote: Tue Oct 01, 2019 4:28 am Today we went for a drive to Melbourne so I could film some stuff for my YouTube channel and here is what I got filmed:

My final crossing I filmed was at Keon Parade, Reservoir and the hybrids and Westinghouse gate mechs still survive.I filmed one side while my mum's friend Cindy filmed the other.
I’ve also filmed at crossings along the Adelaide Melbourne Line recently, here are the ones I filmed and what they have/had.
Yatina Road, Aldgate: has Harmon Lights on one of the signals, and there used to be a hybrid, I believe the last m bell on this section of the line.
Carey Gully Road, Bridgewater. Has typical Westinghouse LEDs and Safetran Type 3s (I think these signals are 2006 - 2009, not sure) but there are markings around the crossing, which could only mean a signal upgrade.
Altmanns road, Mt Barker Junction/Balhannah. Safetran Type 1 was still there last time I saw it in August, soon I’ll make another visit to check up on it again.
Jeffrey St, Nairne: Formerly had Mck&h Gateless signals with Westinghouse LEDs and a Safetran Type 3, now replaced with new signals. One of the WCH Bases has a WRRS junction box cover, rather odd for a new install. Safetran Type 3 is the bell again, and also newer Westinghouse LEDs which I think is a first in SA.
Ferries McDonald Road, Monarto South: Mixture of Clear and red Westinghouse LEDs, and also a mixture of WRRS and newer Mck&h Crossarms, and of course a Safetran Type 3.
Cypress Terrace, Murray Bridge: had the same setup as Jeffrey St, but now has new signals. Rather oddly though, the new signals have 5 inch masts and bases (junction box is on one side on both bases). Safetran Type 3 here still looks fresh, and the Westinghouse LEDs are the older style.
Trevena Road, Tailem Bend: nothing has changed from when Mck&h Aust filmed this crossing, round gates, and harmon lights survive.
Railway Terrace, Coonalpyn: has WRRS Bases, Westinghouse LEDs, normal crossbucks, and a Safetran Type 3, but I’ve noticed various markings around the crossing, which probably means signal replacement. I hope to get more footage of this crossing before that happens.
Didn’t film this one but I went past North Terrace, Bordertown which still has its normal crossbucks.
Speaking of Bordertown, I went down to the former Bordertown Safety School, hopped the fence
The last crossing on the line I visited and filmed an activation at was West Terrace, Wolseley which has 2007 signals (typical setup) but its still a nice Crossing.
As you could imagine, chasing the trains down to these locations were very hard, especially the Murray Bridge - Wolseley part because most of that is plains, minimal curves etc. trains would top at 115 at these sections with minimal slowing down, while cars are limited to 110 and they have to slow down around towns (not to mention the odd slow driver or 2)
It was a great couple of days seeing some standard gauge action on this line :)

The Adjusted Type 1 ebell is a dark shade of grey like what Poplar Road, Parkville has
My final crossing I filmed was at Keon Parade, Reservoir and the hybrids and Westinghouse gate mechs still survive.I filmed one side while my mum's friend Cindy filmed the other.
It's always very interesting to hear what the railway operators have to say about upgrading crossings with E-Bells. It makes sense that E-Bells with volume controls are handy in residential areas, however it still doesn't explain why some crossings away from built-up areas have their M-Bells replaced or why Barker Technics bells are suddenly disappearing. I have a relative who lives near the Maidstone St crossing in Altona and the new E-Bells and pedestrian gate alarms are actually much louder and can be heard far more clearly in her house than the previous Hybrids.
On the subject of E-Bells, unfortunately the Hybrids and Westinghouse gate mechs at Arden St in North Melbourne have been replaced
