*originally recorded on 6-24-21*

Signal on the far left: 2 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights with WCH 2nd Generation LEDs, an NEG electronic bell, an Invensys Rail gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
Signal on the far right (not active): 2 pairs of WCH 12x20 inch lights.
Signal on the near left: 2.5 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights with WCH 2nd Generation LEDs, 1 WCH 12x20 inch light with a WCH 2nd Generation LED.
Signal on the near right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with Dialight Ball LEDs, a General Signals Type 1 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.

This was the next crossing we recorded in Cordele. I'd actually been down at the next crossing east of this one documenting it when I noticed the signal to our east was showing a clear for an eastbound, so Ethan and I returned to this one to catch the train. The train came about 20 minutes after, and was this southbound intermodal train with a YN3 ES44AH leading a YN2 AC44CW on the head-end, and another YN3 ES44AH working as the mid-train DPU.

This crossing's a fairly neat one, being a double crossing split between the HOG and CSX. It appears that the signals here would've originally been installed by both the SAL (on the HOG's side) and the ACL (on CSX's side), but at some point in the late-90s/early-2000s, the HOG completely replaced everything on their side with WCH equipment (with incandescent lights and a WCH e-bell on the gated signal). Then, sometime after 2013, the gated signal on the HOG's side was replaced once again with the current one. The signal's a CSX-spec signal, but I will admit I'm not entirely sure if that was the HOG's doing or if CSX had replaced it for them.
However, over here on the ACL side, it appears that the signals were mostly original up until the late-90s, though the gateless signal had its original US&S 8 inch side lights replaced with what I believe might've been WCH 8 inch lights in the 70s by the SCL. Then, in the late-90s, it appears that CSX replaced the base, gate mechanism, and bell on the gated signal with the current equipment, though the original mast and 8 inch lights were kept. The crossing remained unchanged for about another decade or so until sometime between 2007 and 2013, when the 8 inch lights on the gated signal were replaced with the current Safetran 12x24 inch lights with Dialight Ball LEDs. Eventually, when CSX upgraded the Fitzgerald Sub to LED in around 2014/2015 or so, all of the lights on the gateless signal were upgraded to the current WCH 12 inch lights with WCH 2nd Gen LEDs. Since then, no major changes have occured to this side of the crossing, it appears. Glad to find another GS Type 1 down here in southeast Georgia though, hopefully it remains for a good while longer.
We also got to meet-up with a couple of other (local) railfans here too, which was nice. The HOG's crew depot can also be seen on the left between the tracks.
They/Them for me, please.
