What a shame, there's going to be no crossings left in Melbourne at this rate.TrickyMario7654 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 7:04 amOh I really wanna deck Daniel Andrews now.

You wouldn't have want to be around me last night when I found this out.chris96 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 1:04 amWhat a shame, there's going to be no crossings left in Melbourne at this rate.TrickyMario7654 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 7:04 amOh I really wanna deck Daniel Andrews now.

The only one on that list that makes sense to remove is Keon Parade, the others seem like a waste. Should all these go ahead, the Cranbourne, Pakenham, and Lilydale lines will be level crossing free.
Metro, why do you keep removing Mechanical bells?!

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
While Melbourne's having a Crossing Closure Bonanza, we still haven't shut
Boundary Road in Coopers Plains - you can go back as far as 2009 and there is still footage
of drivers flunking the rules there - it's basically Brisbane's Springvale Rd, Nunawading.
Beenleigh Road, Kuraby has an old Railway crossing sign there from the 80s or something
if anyone's interested.
But, yeah, really no point closing most of those crossings. Coolstore Road was perfectly fine. Keon Parade is massive, so definitely close it.
Other than that, I don't live in Melb so don't have much to say.

There's a weird bell at this crossing in Toowoomba.
https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-27.551 ... 384!8i8192
And, rare in Queensland as you usually see Siemens or WC Hayes boom gate mechanisms,
a WRRS boom gate mechanism
https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-27.544 ... 384!8i8192
Another one here, before it was replaced by a Siemens boom gate mechanism during the Mort Street upgrades for the TSRC works:
https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-27.529 ... 312!8i6656
And one at Pomona on the North Coast Line in 2010, with a very interesting set-up: WRRS boom gate mechanisms, old-looking lights and a red teardrop bell.
Today, since an upgrade to facilitate a new pedestrian crossing, the Westinghouse teardrop bell has been removed, and the WRRS gate mechanisms have been replaced with the common Siemens mechanism used widely across Queensland.
I believe it's a Westinghouse Teardrop.
I dont live in QLD, but I have travelled through a couple of times.

The Boundary Rd, Coopers Plains level crossing is expected to be gone in the next few years, according to the Government's new Urban Congestion Fund.
That crossing is notorious for nearmisses. You can find boom gate strikes and nearmisses dating back to the 2000s
https://www.google.com/maps/@-27.561499 ... 384!8i8192
Also, aging infrastructure at the very top of the Brisbane-Sydney rail line in Coopers Plains.
This same railway line goes under Boundary Rd just a kilometre or so west of the crossing.
Also also, isn't it obvious how it was stuck over the old crossbuck, like in Douglas Park?

This weird level crossing is located at Childers on the cane railway that serves the Isis Central Mill near Bundaberg.
There's another down the road that's got its signals unusally far apart

HE'S REMOVING THE REMAINING CROSSINGS ON MY LINE!
Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
A change at the Racecourse Road crossing in Pakenham
The Hybrid bell on the station side of the crossing has been replaced with a General Signals Type 3 E-Bell
However the Hybrid bell on the other side was oddly left in place
Lastly, a photo of both signals

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
Yet another completely pointless upgrade since the crossing is about to be removed! At least the other Hybrid survives for now.
