Main St, Grain Valley, MO
Recorded on 3-12-22. Westbound grain train meets eastbound MKCVN. After recording Northern Blvd in action, I chased this train to Grain Valley over on Main St. I was wanting to film Kirby Rd in action since it had a pair of safetran s-85 gate mechanisms, but unfortunately the stretch of road that crossing resides on has no parking signs. So I ended up going to Main St again to redo the crossing vid there since the first vid I did here didn't turn out that well since I missed the activation. Fortunately I did catch up to the westbound grain train since he was stopped before the crossing since the siding track over by Sni A Bar Dr was lined for MKCVN. He would begin to move just so he could clear the switch track just after this crossing so the eastbound can proceed east. Shortly after the grain train cleared the switch, the eastbound began to crawl through as the westbound comes to a stop so he could wait for MKCVN to pass by so he could proceed west into Kansas City. As the end of the eastbound was getting near, the westbound began to move. Traffic sure did get pretty congested after having to sit and wait for both trains to pass by. lol. Crossing itself is a tad bit on the boring side, but still a decent one. These signals were installed sometime in 2016 unfortunately replacing a pair of older Gateway Western gated signals which had a pair of safetran s-85 gate mechanisms (similar setup to Kirby Rd). Reason was because the sidewalk that got added on the side I filmed on, as well as the one by the other signal getting redone. It's a shame the old signals got replaced at this crossing. The crosswalk signals you see in the distance was installed sometime in 2021. I would eventually catch the westbound grain train back in Independence. This road is also known as Route AA, as well as Buckner Tarsney Rd, in fact the whole stretch of this road is Buckner Tarsney Rd as it reverts back to that name just after this crossing in both directions. This road also crosses the UP River Sub over in Buckner. Idk when I will film that crossing in action since the River Sub is usually dead as only eastbounds use it.
Proud owner of 7 mechanical bells along with a pair of safetran 12x20 lights and a 8 inch light. Been a fan of trains since I was little. Main place I railfan on, The Sedalia Sub.

Managed to film this crossing again today, this time on the e bell side. No changes have occurred since the last time I filmed here when I caught both the westbound grain train, and the eastbound MKCVN here back in March.
