Sandcut Road, Prospect, AL
*originally recorded on 12-10-20*
Signal on the left: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran Type 3 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran Type 3 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO gate lights.
After chasing NS 320 down to Prospect, I hung around for a while to catch NS 329. After a bit of waiting, NS 329 came through on its way north with a much more interesting lash-up of an SD70ACu leading an AC44C6M and an SD70ACC working as the mid-train DPU! Certainly nice to see another SD70ACu leading, seems like they're hard to get leading on NS trains these days. Also kinda neat how both AC44C6Ms I saw today were both trailing second out on the head-ends of the trains.
This crossing is another decent one, though, like Prospect Road, it ain't too interesting. The signals here are some late-2000s NS signals, likely replacing another pair of crossbucks. No major changes appear to have occurred to either signal since installation though, which I suppose is to be expected.
Speaking of Prospect Road, the bells at that crossing can be heard before this crossing activates as well.
They/Them for me, please.

After catching 320 in Nauvoo, I decided to chase them on down to this crossing for the next one I wanted to get them at. Here we see NS 320 once again for the fourth time on this day.
Sometime after I last filmed this crossing back in 2023, NS replaced the bell on the far signal here with a General Signals Type 3 e-bell. I'm guessing the original Safetran Type 3 e-bell on that signal must've finally died, which is a bit of a shame but oh well. Thankfully, the rest of the equipment here seems to have remained largely untouched on this 2007 NS install since I last recorded it. NGL, I do quite like these late-2000s NS installs for some reason. They just look pretty nice to me, and I will admit that Safetran Type 3 e-bells have very much grown on me quite a bit in recent years, especially the older ones like at the remaining one at this crossing.
