*originally recorded on 5-21-25*

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 8 inch lights with Safetran Fading LEDs, a Safetran mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 8 inch lights with Safetran Fading LEDs, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.

After catching the northbound coal train, Harris and I went down to this crossing to try and get it, but had to hit the road again in order to be able to get the Memphis, TN, siren test at 3:30. After the test, we came back to Millington and snagged ourselves some lunch at a Subway before setting back up at this crossing and waiting. After a while of waiting, vtgrxrman and I were able to get our third train of the day: a northbound mixed freight with an SD70M-2 leading an SD75I for power! Definitely nice to get this train, especially since it'd been a good while since I'd last seen an M-2 leading.

This crossing is another great one, featuring a pair of mid-70s ICG signals at it still. It appears that the far signal was originally installed with some side lights, but those were removed at some point prior to street view coming through here so I'm not sure when that would've been. I can more definitively say, however, that in the mid-90s, it appears that the gate mechanism on the far signal was replaced by the current Safetran one by the IC. Then, in the 2000s, CN replaced the closer signal's gate mech with the current Safetran one as well. Finally, sometime after 2007 (it appears?), CN upgraded the 8 inch lights here to LED. Thankfully, since then, nothing else too major appears to have changed to this crossing. As a result, this crossing still has it's original 1st Gen Safetran mechanical bell, which is great to see. This crossing is also the last one in Millington to still feature 8 inch lights at it, so hopefully it remains unchanged for many more years to come. Either way, I'm definitely glad I was able to get this crossing recorded when I did as well.
Strangely, the next crossing north (Church Street) activated about a full minute before this crossing did, despite the train being northbound. Not sure why it does, though it seems to be set that way as it did it again for the next northbound we saw in Millington.
