Oddball gates, mechanisms, and counterweights

They used to have those gates weights at every crossing with a median on the median signal on the CN Waukesha Sub, from Chicago up to Winetka. Now they upgraded every signal on the line... Stupid Safetran LED's...

Anyone ever seen a Harmon Electronics gate mech before? The Oak St. crossing has one...and it's the only one I know of that exists thus far. The Goddard Rd. crossing used to have one, before somebody hit it and damaged it 2 years ago!

Yep, there is still a set in use at Ave. A in Rosamond, Ca. Right on the County and city border actually lol. One mech is in Rosamond, in Kern Co, One is in Lancaster, in Los Angeles County.

Heres an odd one...to bad it has exempt signs on it know....

Kind of odd also that they put a gate on that side street. Guess if someone wants to turn right when a train was coming through they were screwed. Unless of course they just drove around it.

Actually, those aren't the triangle gates, but rather the RACO hydraulic ones. Those were a faulty design indeed. I've heard they "loose pressure" when they aren't used for a while, and drop down slowly. It appears that is happening with those too.

The triangle gates are made by WABCO, Model AL-70.
