I wonder if on the first video that the new signals were hooked up to the old relay case? You said the pilot light on the case was still on for a time.

That scenario happened here severals years back when NS upgraded signals on their line. At this one crossing, the signals had a rather odd flash rate (one side stayed on quite a bit longer than the other)... and the new signals did this for about a month after they were installed. The old signals did not have gates, the new signals did, but the gates themselves were not intalled for about a month. The signals just worked like non-gates signals for that period of time (bell rang throughout). Now the bell only rings as while the gates lower and the lights have a total different flash rate.

Just a thought!

It's a possibility. Plus, that may explain why the bells went on hiatus for about a month. Weird though that they changed the bell pattern on the old case instead of just leaving everything as it was. I kinda wonder why they programmed the new case to keep the bells ringing while the gates rise. My guess is because of the pedestrian gates, but IDK.

After three years, I finally a new vid of this crossing from start-up to shut-down:

As you can see, the bells have been modified again to ring from start-up until the gates rise, but this has been the case since 2011, so not a recent change by any means.

Taken yesterday. As mentioned in the Crossing Signal News section, one of the WCH e-bells was replaced. As you can see in the vid, it's a General Signals Type 2 e-bell.

Wow, that crossover vehicle surely pondered about going around the gate, eh? :Tongue1:

Giving her the benefit of the doubt... I think she was just trying to move out of the lane of traffic she was partially blocking.

Yeah, she was turning left from Railroad Street onto Broadway and people around here like to stop a bit of a ways back from the gate, and obviously she realized she was blocking a lane of traffic on Railroad street, so she had to pull forward. With railroad crossings it doesn't surprise me, but lately I've seen it at traffic light intersections as well, which can be a bad thing because if the light is sensored, the system may not detect any waiting traffic...
