According to the FRA reports, this crossing gets 20 trains per day as of 2004. There have been 5 accidents. DOT # is 432544R if anyone can find out any more information on it.
I'm 99% sure that the lenses are actually amber, not previously red lenses that faded. I do have a close-up shot of one of the lights that will be submitted with the others so you can decide for yourself. The other signal at this crossing is a standard mast signal, with the lights below the crossbuck, but they are also yellow lights and they have vandal guards.
I'm also 99% sure that these signals flash yellow constantly, whether a train is present or not. There was a train crossing when I arrived, and I stayed for about 10 min after the train was gone and they were still flashing. Could be an extended malfunction... but it looks like they were flashing when the google car went by too (although you can't see the lights flashing on the other signal due to the angle and the vandal guards).
I really think they might intend this to be a passive crossing with "extra" yellow warning lights... which is quite bizarre. There isn't a whole lot of traffic due to the overpass for the main roadway, but I did see some traffic. I didn't hang around any longer or return to the crossing, because it's in a bad area (there was a vagrant's shopping cart parked in the middle of the road next to the crossing, and a SAPD car went by while I was taking the pictures and then parked at the end of the street).

looks like it used to be a real 2 lane road crossings with flashing lights, but when they built the over pass. They ripped up the crossing and left the lights the way they stand. Then the crossing relays for what ever reason are permanently on and the maintainer only replaced the bulbs and thats how the lens got faded idk thats just a guess but either way thats one screwed up area
