Big update to Street View Today. Have a look around and see if you can find anything new.

ok so i am not the only one. As i was looking around the fresno area, a lot of the rails that Google says is there that are really not there have been updated. I did some crusin thru lindsay and srathmore today and was going on gsv to compare what I found and saw that the abandoned rails arent there anymore!!! guess ill have to refer to the fra more often
also looks like the actual rails look different too!
also see that some streets that werent on gsv are now on. Very nice

GREAT! In downtown Miami I can see the FEC cantilevers even better in their unused Downtown Spur!

They finally put a three-year old development on the maps but got all the street names wrong.

Here's something unique....a StreetView car being followed by another StreetView car. If you guys were wondering what the cameras look like, here's your chance!

It looks like Portland will FINALLY be getting high-quality Street View imagery. Through Portland and parts of the western suburbs, each intersection has been updated with an HQ image while the rest are still the 3-year old photos. I believe this is their method of updating; start with an intersection and update out from there.
See
here. Notice the new traffic lights and the HQ image then click forward once. It goes to the old low-quality picture with the old traffic lights (circa late 2006, early 2007) until you click forward again and the new traffic lights are back in HQ.
Weird, though I can't say I'm not looking forward to it.

Anybody remember a couple months ago when the maps still showed abandoned railroads? They aren't there anymore which I don't really like since I want to know where old rail lines used to run. Oh well, there is a ton of streetview now and it is more accurate so I shouldn't complain.

They still kind of exist in a way. In some areas they just show a path where the lines are out of service now.

Bing Maps has birds eye view in most areas which has a better view of houses
