Probably not, but I didn't want to discriminate on terminology with our friends across the pond.ToledoRailfan wrote:Does Australia have any Yoda-alarms?
A yoda alarm is an alarm that is used at Level Crossings in the United Kingdom and Ireland. I'm not sure if they can be found outside of the British Isles though.what-da wrote:Hi guys what do you mean as yoda alarms ? do you have any pics?

Sadly yes Australia does have yodalarms. In New South Wales they are used mostly on pedestrian crossings, but also a few road crossings.
Check out the following video (not mine) and there are yodalarms on the pedestrian crossing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kGL1lZUP14 There are GRS signal motors used to operate the pedestrian gates, this was very common until the late 1990's when most of them were replaced by the newer style swing gates. Note also the new style 8 inch LED lights on the road crossing. They are made by Alstom and are used on all new installations and upgrades. I prefer the WCH or Westinghouse lights that were used prior to this.
Here is a road crossing with yodalarms, the lights appear to be Westinghouse. Notice also the new style of crossbuck that is becoming more common in Australia, I prefer the old ones https://www.google.com/maps/@-34.542943 ... 312!8i6656

Odd how they have both WCH e-bells and the yodalarms.McK&H.Aust wrote:Check out the following video (not mine) and there are yodalarms on the pedestrian crossing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kGL1lZUP14 There are GRS signal motors used to operate the pedestrian gates, this was very common until the late 1990's when most of them were replaced by the newer style swing gates.
