Bell Maintenance and Replacement

Bump! I found this video of a signal maintainer replacing a WCH M-bell with an e-Bell. Also note how he just throws the old bell on the ground.

It said in the description that the maintainer was in a real pissy mood that day. That might explain the chucking.

Pissy mood or not, I wouldn't have condoned that action at all. The bell could have very much been salvaged and there would have been no problem for the person who was there asking for it to take it either, especially since it seemed like the maintainer (or even the railroad) had no intention on re-purposing it, too.

Why couldn't the signal maintainer just give the bell to the guy?!?!? It makes me so mad when he throws it on the ground! And the sound it makes! And when he asked the signal maintainer what he was going to do with it and he said he was going to throw it away made me so mad!!!! And how he won't give the bell to the guy, what else was the signal maintainer going to do with it?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

It's already been answered...he may have been told he can't do that.

On my vacation to California, I was able to see a guy replace a US&S electronic bell with a Safetran type 3. He didn't throw it to the ground, instead he tied some rope around the bell, and he lowered the bell, safely. Of course, the bell wasn't dead, as the new bell didn't work, either. The whole signal needs to be replaced! I was able to acquire the bell, at least!
