There's a few of those setups in Melbourne. But anyways, we used to have a quad gate setup down here. It's was located on Riversdale Road in Camberwell. (Note the odd yodaalarm too!)

Sadly, it's since been downgraded to a half-gate setup.

It's been on ongoing project for close to 15 years now. Unfortunately this has meant (or will mean) the demise of some signals that have been around since the 70's in some cases.

Here is a few close to my hometown of Springfield, IL:

Will/Does the entire line have quad gates? Or only on the parts where it actually is high speed and not on parts where trains will be slower like at and around stations?

That line has come up in the past on here. IIRC, only parts of the line have quad gates where the speed limit exceeds a certain amount, but that escapes me atm.

Except for the major cities, pretty much all of the crossings are quads. However, some very rural crossings (only used for farm field access or someone's driveway) have "normal" gates. It's kind of crazy to see a gated crossing leading into a farm field, but they do exist:

The Amtrak trains have to do a station stop in the major cities anyway, so they only plan to do the 110 MPH out in the rural areas. For that reason, some of the major cities may not get quads. However in Springfield they are trying to make a quiet zone, so there are plans to put quad gates all throughout town and close I believe 7 crossings. I'm following this pretty closely and will keep you updated on the progress.

Here's a video of some of the testing they did several years ago with the trains going 100+. I love the doppler effect on the horn.

You could almost live in it!

I would guess there is probably more equipment in there than just for the crossing itself.

I remember seeing a picture of that crossing recently on Facebook. Everything is still there, except that one of the bells has been replaced.
They/Them for me, please.
