Those are all out service, belong in the tracks out of service thread, and have all been posted there already too
Again, they can still be posted here as these types of threads are for all locations of something that are still around, whether in or out of service.ZachL wrote:Those are all out service, belong in the tracks out of service thread, and have all been posted there already too

Actually, i was referring to the crossing gate, either it was removed by a signal maintainer for safety reasons or anything else, or it may've just been removed by someone looking for either a cheap buck or for a crossing signal in their gardendan the ca railfan wrote:looks like they are both still there actually!NathanFromEngland wrote:Hard to tell, but it appears that the other gate has now been removed.dan the ca railfan wrote: some in valejo ca

I believe Safetran might've tried to break into EM Gates around the 60's, but i guess when Griswold was making a ton of money from making them and selling them to various railroad around the Western U.S, while WRRS/GRS were also producing their gate mechanisms around the country, so Safetran followed in WRRS/GRS's footsteps, as did every other company.dan the ca railfan wrote:nice find i didn't know that the SP ever used safetran EM gates as the main line that tracks connect to is owned by the bnsf however it was originally built by the SP as part of the sunset route.
Griswold and Transport Products Corp. merged to form RACO. Sometime in the 1970s, RACO became Safetran. Early Safetran equipment was pretty much the same as all of the equipment RACO produced, except for the logos being changed (RACO's equipment was also pretty much the same as their predecessors but with the logos changed and a few new items like the 12 inch lights), so Safetran continued to produce the EM gate mechs until discontinuing them sometime later, likely due to declining sales for them while the Safetran S-series gate mechs were gaining in popularity as they were easier to maintain.NathanFromEngland wrote:NathanFromEngland wrote:Here are some Safetran EM gate mechanisms in Dagett, California.

Griswold was acquired by RACO in 1964 although they kept marketing their items under Griswold and RACO respectively (I might be telling false facts here, considering i'm British) It was around 1971 when Safetran acquired RACO.
Along with that, I don't think Safetran would've really make that much off their EM mechs of their own, and it probably would've lead to a lawsuit or something, and also, EM's were not great things to work on.
