We all have memories of childhood lines and crossings, I went on a trip to Dallas, Tx in 2007 I loved it there.
I know this has been posted on the site, but I find it cool that a rail line went from a trail to a busy commuter line.

Former Southern Railway:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=3 ... ,0,-4&z=20
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=3 ... ,0.48&z=20
There is a lot of rail missing at this crossing:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=3 ... ,11.5&z=20
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=3 ... 29.69&z=20
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=3 ... 11.31&z=20
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=3 ... 15.84&z=20
This looks like an interesting one:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=3 ... ,1.27&z=20
I bet there was one signals at this crossing:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=3 ... ,7.31&z=20
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=3 ... 48.36&z=20
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=3 ... ,9.95&z=19
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=3 ... ,,0,0&z=20
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=3 ... ,8.39&z=19
Another head scratcher:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=3 ... ,6.73&z=20
There was once something here:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=3 ... 38.22&z=20
The rail ends shortly after this crossing.
The ROW is still present from here:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=3 ... 12.58&z=20
To here:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=3 ... ,5.66&z=20
Tis might be one in Birmingham, Al:

https://maps.google.com/maps?q=32nd+Str ... 5&t=h&z=20
https://maps.google.com/maps?q=32nd+Str ... 8&t=h&z=20

Look what was lurking in the trees on the other side of that crossing:

That tree is wrapped around that signal pretty good!
Also, the guy in the sleeveless T-shirt is intrigued by the Google car.

And here's the relay case too:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=3 ... ,7.66&z=20
Notice the stuffed bear leaning on it. I wonder if somebody died here or if it was left on accident.
This relay case also states that there was signals at this crossing too:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=3 ... ,7.17&z=20
What's also surprising is that this line isn't documented on abandonedrails.com (I was hoping that there was some information about it on there

).

Shortest abandonment ever? It used to connect two tracks that are nearly right next to each other.
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=3 ... 7,,0,11.99
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=3 ... 72,,0,4.14
Removed rails:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=3 ... 09,,1,8.29
Here's another line:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=3 ... 19,,0,1.66
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=3 ... 74,,0,6.44
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=3 ... 31,,0,1.27
I think it served
this and
there are still ties in the ground here too.

Damn you've been busy looking up things in my back yard there brick.
http://www.rxrsignals.net/Alabama/Mobile/Virginia
Also Brookley Field has a ton of abandoned spurs.
CN/IC crosses the NO&M at Lawrence St to get to Mcduffie Coal terminal which is where that track at Virginia St protected by the FL crossing goes. Terminal Railway Alabama State Docks (TASD) has a bunch of spurs in the area also and they control all movement around the port, because if CSX did it would be a war zone

Have any plans to head to northern Alabama anytime soon? You could probably get some pictures of all of the crossings in Birmingham because I've been busily documenting the crossings around Huntsville. I've got a ton of photos to post of crossings on the HMCR.
