That could be a possibility, or perhaps there's absolutely no power to the crossings either (which would cause the gates to lower). Up until now I never even knew that McK&H made gate mechanisms. Look carefully when you see a close up of the crossing...It's a nice crossing, I like those cantilevers, I wonder who made them. Actually, it's one of the 50 crossings on our state government's removal list. They're gonna grade separate it by building an elevated rail line over the existing line. It's been dubbed Skyrail by many and it's caused a lot of complaints from people living near the line. I noticed some of the local business owners complaining about the crossing, I bet they would change their tune if the government was going to acquire their properties to build a bridge!
