Active crossing. East Chicago, Indiana. Google (illegally) went around the gates! https://www.google.com/maps/@41.6509388 ... 1664?hl=en https://www.google.com/maps/@41.6508097 ... 1664?hl=en https://www.google.com/maps/@41.6506648 ... 1664?hl=en

Google caught the crossing in action again two years later. https://www.google.com/maps/@41.6500836 ... 6656?hl=en

Here is a cool private industrial crossing. I don't know how this setup functions but if I had to take a guess, I would say that the traffic signal is a G-Y-R signal that was not functioning when google came through, the signal beacons pointing at the main road flash yellow and act as side lights, and the gate with the advance warning sign closes when the crossing activates. https://www.google.com/maps/@41.6583173 ... 1664?hl=en

The signals are still there, but the lights, gates, and the gate equipment have been removed. https://www.google.com/maps/@41.7178064 ... 6656?hl=en https://www.google.com/maps/@41.7177671 ... 6656?hl=en

Don't believe I've ever seen 12 inch Modern Industries lights with the logo in the center before:

Google caught that crossing in action in 2009 as well, so I think this crossing gets a lot of use in terms of switching. The gate light might have happened not so long ago before Google came through in 2015 because I would think something like that would have been spotted by the railroad quickly.

Active crossing in Sydney, Australia.

Wentworth St, Greenacre https://www.google.com/maps/@-33.903975 ... 312!8i6656

The crossing was installed in 1995 and has mostly Westinghouse equipment including the gate mechanisms, 8 inch incandescent lights and a hybrid bell. There used to be a hybrid bell on the other side also but it was replaced by a WCH M-bell around 2009. It is the last crossing in Sydney to have the old wishbone gates and incandescent lights. It is a private crossing which is the access road for the rail yards you can see in the background, this probably explains why the old equipment has lasted this long.

Those old wishbone gates are cool! If only they were more common here in the United States.

Thanks for the welcome, it's great to be here.

I love wishbone gates as well, and they are disappearing fast over here. I only know of 4 other crossings left with wishbones and they are all in rural areas at least 4 or 5 hours drive from my house. I will try to find street view images and post them later.

GSV is from 2012; I hope they are still there. With any luck, I'll be traveling through that area this coming weekend so I'll be able to check them out!
