My interest in these has recently spiked lately, mainly because I'm on the road alot again lately. The dialight trend continues here, as an intersection in Albany got redone and instead of retrofitting the old signals with LEDs, they replaced them all and they're entirely dialight LED. There's another intersection that got redone as well further north and it's also entirely dialight LED. Lately, dialight pedestrians signals are popping up too, as opposed to the dotted ones. Much like the dialight traffic lights, I don't like them and prefer the dotted ones. Reason being:
The outline of the indicator not lit can easily be seen through the one that is lit. This doesn't happen with the dotted ones. Also, the above pics came from the collection of a friend of mine. The ones that got installed are of the usual style around here -
indicators on top with a countdown on the bottom. Also, I didn't mention it on the other pages, but over here, the traffic lights don't change to yellow until the countdown reaches "0". Infact, one intersection is currently having a problem because at this intersection, the crosswalk signals control the light, and what's happening is, one signal is causing the side road crossing to be tripped and when that's done, if there's cars waiting on the side road, the light on the main automatically turns red, and the thing is, because of the crosswalk signal malfunctioning, it only stays green for about 20 seconds, which isn't really long enough. Hopefully that problem gets fixed.
