we have neither a countdown timer or auto handsignals for the most part here, all of our ped signals only work when someone pushes a button annoying but thats part of traffic.
and robert try speeding up to 60 mph only to slam on your breaks for a 4 second yellow light then you can start bitching

I am now in Yantai, China with my wife who is visiting her parents, sister and relatives.

The COUNT DOWN signals have disappeared!

Haven't seen one.

Also cannot see Youtube or the link above.
Is China censoring access?

Google and China have had a "falling out" recently due to Gmail getting hijacked in China, and for wanting to censor a lot of its searches.

Google said no, and no one could come to a compromise, so Google has pulled out. Since Youtube is owned by Google, that is probably gone too.

All I can say is wait until you get back to the US to see Youtube and Google again.

Damned Red Communist Heathens!
Well, not the heathen part since I am agnostic.

But I am accessing YouTube from my aol account.
When here in 2008, I was able to access things through my AOL account which they could not access.

Their steady GREEN signal flashes twice before going to YELLOW, then RED.
All of their signals are LED.
Sent at 0105 hours, China time.

Here in Bakersfield it is pretty easy. Most streets you know you are NOT going to make the next light.

My interest in these has recently spiked lately, mainly because I'm on the road alot again lately. The dialight trend continues here, as an intersection in Albany got redone and instead of retrofitting the old signals with LEDs, they replaced them all and they're entirely dialight LED. There's another intersection that got redone as well further north and it's also entirely dialight LED. Lately, dialight pedestrians signals are popping up too, as opposed to the dotted ones. Much like the dialight traffic lights, I don't like them and prefer the dotted ones. Reason being:

The outline of the indicator not lit can easily be seen through the one that is lit. This doesn't happen with the dotted ones. Also, the above pics came from the collection of a friend of mine. The ones that got installed are of the usual style around here - indicators on top with a countdown on the bottom. Also, I didn't mention it on the other pages, but over here, the traffic lights don't change to yellow until the countdown reaches "0". Infact, one intersection is currently having a problem because at this intersection, the crosswalk signals control the light, and what's happening is, one signal is causing the side road crossing to be tripped and when that's done, if there's cars waiting on the side road, the light on the main automatically turns red, and the thing is, because of the crosswalk signal malfunctioning, it only stays green for about 20 seconds, which isn't really long enough. Hopefully that problem gets fixed.
