This gate mech is open. Can't see any signal maintainers nearby.

Found another crossing with those odd looking gate mechs. freebrickproductions was right, you can see a GRS logo on one of the mechanisms

:Scared: Wow! I've never seen that before! I wonder if it was vandals who did it, or signal maintainers forgot to shut it.

As if those gate mechanisms weren't strange enough, they for some reason decided to put the gate mechanisms in front of the signals, I've never seen that done before. And those signals don't seem to be in good condition. It seems that there are a lot of odd, unique, rare, and vintage signals along with poorly maintained signals in the area of Las Angeles.

Might've just fallen open. I saw a gate mech that had done that (on a new signal install too!) in Glenco, AL once.
They/Them for me, please.

:LOL3: I wonder if they bought a few too many of the new blue DOT tags and decided that the best course of action would be to install as many as they could on that post.
They/Them for me, please.

That's actually a rather common setup on a lot of older designs; I know there are quite a few of those that have been posted here.

IIRC, they were placed like that due to the signal being originally installed with a wooden gate.
It probably also explains why the L&N put their gates on separate masts...

Also, an active crossing in Monroe, NC, the crossing had just activated too:

Train down the tracks:

And here's a WABCO bell!
