There is another advance warning sign for that side of the crossing. Kind of defeats the purpose of an advance warning sign when its that close to the crossing.

I assume the whole crossing activates when there is a train. Although drivers in the left hand land probably just tend to ignore the signals.

Maybe they based it on the maximum number of cars assumed the last customer can handle on their switch. Although, the quality of the asphalt patch over the grade looks very shoddy. I think if CN ran into a situation where they needed to access that last few hundred feet of track beyond the crossing, they could just slowly run a good heavy motive unit back and forth over it to break open the flangeways. Even so, that just looks silly to have the red board placed between the lanes. Even stranger to me that they bothered to upgrade the signals on the OOS side with LEDs but also an e-Bell.

Would've loved to have seen this crossing in Montreal when it wasn't out of service.
