Interesting crossing in Ohio... with an option to bypass it as the Google car did here:
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.5795126 ... 6656?hl=en
It would be interesting to see how that underpass works when there is a long train as it appears to be only one lane. I could see cars trying to access it from both directions at the same time.

Back to the crossing itself... due to the location of the underpass, the one signal had to be put in the median.

That's wild. I need to see that one for myself.

Broken gate in the California desert in 2008. Not sure if it got hit by a car or if the desert wind got it.

This location is just a few miles from the Mexican border... and not far from this crossing that we talked about previously.

A few things I noticed about that crossing:
#1: the crossing was originally 12x20 inch, but the backgrounds were upgraded to 12x24 inch. However, it appears that the mounted the new backgrounds to the old ones:

#2: The crossing has/had some of those mystery 12 inch lights on it:

#3: The bell on this signal appears to be a RACO/Griswold bell:

Check out this combination crossing signal / block signal on display at the Union Pacific shop in Little Rock, Arkansas. You can see it on more recent pictures (from the main road) on GSV... but it is not as clear of a picture as this:

This is an interesting crossing in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. https://www.google.com.au/maps/@35.2680 ... 312!8i6656

Aside from the old gate mechs, 8" lights and inverted "2 Tracks" signs, some of the backgrounds on the lights are painted yellow. Is there a certain reason why?

This gate is also bent, and the gate lights look like the older style that were used on wishbone gates.

Very nice crossing, I like seeing the older equipment still hanging on :TUP1:

That isn't exactly yellow painting. It could be that those backgrounds are extremely faded (due to their age), and have rusted over time.
