Why is this thread still in 'Crossing Signal Discussion' and not 'Railroad Discussions'?

Because many of the posts here take place at crossings with signals?

But the thread is about out of service tracks in general, not just ones at crossings with signals.

Removed crossing in Carl Junction, MO. The old-style relay box remains.

They also just pulled the concrete bases for the signals out of the ground and left them laying there. Those are still visible laying on the ground all the way back to 2009!

At this crossing... the bases remain in the ground along with the metal barriers that used to protect the signals from getting hit by cars. Back in 2009, the tracks were still visible in the road.

Following this line to the west into Kansas... here is another crossing with an abandoned relay cabinet.

Interestingly... just to the west of this crossing this line goes back into an active status.

Abandoned spur line in Windsor, Ontario.
The tracks still sit here at a crossing which gave it 4 tracks, but now since the spur is abandoned it now counts as a 1 track crossing. The crossing where the abandoned tracks are is still used.

Meanwhile, the track number is incorrect.

Heres the first crossing, This is WRRS equipment. One signal has a Griswold mechanical bell.

By the time 2014 rolled around, one signal was missing its gate. The other signal lost its crossbuck

When 2016 came, the signals had been removed, and the sidewalks redone, a buffer was added at one end of the crossing, so i'm unsure if its used for car storage.

The next crossing is WCH equipment, with some Safetran equipment
2009.
https://www.google.com/maps/@42.3255464 ... 6656?hl=en
Still no change in 2012.
https://www.google.com/maps/@42.3255027 ... 6656?hl=en
The only change was in 2014 was when the tracks were lifted on both sides, the signals remained untouched.

However, by 2016, the signals were removed. The abandoned relay cases still stand, although disconnected.
