Came across a series of videos that shows a track being dismantled near Buffalo New York. Not sure how long the line was out of service, but many of the crossings along the line were in bad shape in the first couple of videos and I'm sure did not even have power to them. However, in a bit of a twist, the crossings shown in the last video appeared to be in better shape, and actually still had power to them.

The first crossing shown in the video, it is active and appears to have a newer signal on our side of the crossing. The signals seem to work fine... but like 3 cars drove around the gates as soon as the train cleared. This crossing here, even though it had power, the detectors did not work at all, except for a little 1 second activation that happened at the 50 second mark in the video. And the next crossing shown... starting at the 2:10 mark... again it had bad detectors, but it was able to fully activate once the train hit the island, and it appears it remained active the whole time the train was coming through.

I just thought it was pretty neat, especially that last crossing... seeing these signals get their one last hurrah before the line was torn up.

In that first link, it looks like the line that it crosses over is out of service except for car storage, as those boxcars are the same spot in Street View and satellite view. The line to the east may be active.

Following a trail labeled "Fall Line Trace" north and east out of the Columbus yard, the Street View pictures date from when the tracks, and even a few signals, were still there!

https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Columbus ... 5,,0,-0.23

https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Columbus ... ,6.43&z=16

The gate is turned to block the tracks!

https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Columbus ... ,9.24&z=16

This was the former Southern Railway "M" line which split off a line going south from Atlanta at McDonough. If you follow the line you can find bits and pieces of it intact through to Griffin and Experiment, where it crosses and parallels an (active) ex-CofG line, to the south side of McDonough where the first couple miles are still active as a spur.

I posted the third one before, the lights were GRS plastics (both sizes).
Take a look at how well preserved this crossing was:

Here's a line in San Antonio, Texas:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 2,,0,11.41
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 31,,0,8.73

https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 9,,0,12.92
There were signals at this crossing:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 54,,1,9.31
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 7,,2,22.99

https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 5,,0,22.82
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 1,,0,26.33
There were signals at this crossing too:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 34,,2,6.51

Abandoned bridge:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 9&t=h&z=21

I lost that line a little bit later, so here's an abandoned spur to make up for it:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 5,,0,10.82

Here's the ROW further down:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 8&t=h&z=20

Found two more:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 2,,1,10.73

Found another line:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 8,,0,16.84
You can see a little bit of rail if you look closely:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 6,,2,33.66

https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 1,,0,11.94
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 38,,0,9.12
There's a small amount of visible rail at this crossing:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 8,,2,24.96
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 2,,2,33.71

There's no streetview for the next crossings:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 9&t=h&z=21
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 9&t=h&z=21

Another abandoned spur:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 02,,0,6.05
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 7,,1,12.68

https://www.google.com/maps?ll=30.46510 ... ,9.09&z=20

Here's a different line:
https://www.google.com/maps?ll=30.43013 ... ,8.48&z=19
https://www.google.com/maps?ll=30.43018 ... ,9.95&z=19

West of that bridge you posted in San Antonio, it looks like an abandoned yard and wye with the line continuing to the north (it looks like the other end of the wye once connected to the active line that is still there).

This would have been the first crossing north of the wye. Not much trace left:

https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 2,,0,11.23

Would have been a diamond crossing with yet another active east-west line here:

https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 2&t=h&z=21

There is also an active north-south line a short distance to the west. This must have been quite the hot spot when all the lines were still there!

The next road north of the former diamond, we find this:

https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 3,,0,26.26

https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 3,,0,12.34

Next one to the north, including another abandoned signal control box:

https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 28,,0,9.71

https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 2,,0,13.22

...and the next one to the north of that!

https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... .4,,1,6.29

One more, and the tracks re-appear!
