Yes... I'm commenting on my own thread because I realize I forgot to point out something. The other cantilever on this crossing has 8 inch lights up above (on the opposite side), and for some reason they are squished together.

What a weird font on the crossbucks there. Almost looks like a Harmon crossbuck, but it looks more like they just bolded the font on a standard one. Either way, it just looks ugly, IMO.
Anyways, here's an active crossing in Amory, MS:

I wouldn't quite call those odd. They just appear to be vintage masts with 12x20" lights on them that may have had 8" lights back in the day.

Must've been one.
Love those old Griswold signals! Especially since they still have the Type-B lights! Nice find!

The satellite view shows the side road was eliminated with the upgrade as well.

If i had to guess it is for track crews... a few years back when they started upgrading the Union Pacific tracks in Illinois I seen these parked along the tracks in various places.
The cars to the right are for all of the equipment and the rest are offices and living/sleeping quarters. Saves them having to get hotel rooms all the time... plus I'm sure in remote areas it is much easier to use these.

Yep. Those are for the track crews.
Back when NS was doing major track work on the Memphis District East End in 2013, they had a bunch of them in the small yard in downtown Huntsville.
