I noticed in April 2013 that both gates are roped up also. That must be standard practice when track work is going on?McK&H.Aust wrote:The next images from April 2013 show the westbound gated signal has been replaced, it now has a WCH gate mech and e-bell. The old eastbound signal remains with the wishbone gate. There is also track upgrading work taking place, you can see a train loaded with concrete sleepers (ties) and some workers at the crossing.

Also found a video from around the same time, sounds interesting hearing a WRRS bell and a WCH e-bell together http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGurwjMab9I
Same in May as well:McK&H.Aust wrote:The next images from May 2013 show the other gated signal has been replaced as well, the median signals were never touched for some reason. The track where the train was previously standing has been torn up for replacement.

The old gates have been dumped beside the track https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-33.832 ... 312!8i6656
Yeah it's normal practice to have gates roped up during track work. Although these signals are manually operated, the crossing has an island for each track which prevents the gates from rising until the crossing is clear. That train parked right near the crossing would still be on the island so they have switched off the signals and roped up the gates.cabman701 wrote:I noticed in April 2013 that both gates are roped up also.
