Personally, i really don't understand on how bus displays change over time.

Notice how in 2015, that the destination is normal.

But for some reason in 2017, Bootle is in entirely uppercase letters.

I don't think it's a type in system, i think you just select the route you want and thats what you get. Probably system changes and all sorts. Although back in the olden days the typical bus driver would have to rely on a roll up display to get the righr route, but once LED technology became a thing they slowly faded into the abyss.
