"failed" traffic signals.

While browsing street view, i came across what appear to be Stanton and Stavely concrete street light poles with what appear to be very rare GEC Z8430CM lanterns from the 1960's/1970's.

The street lighting in this area and the region of Kirkby and Knowsley was replaced entirely in 2014, but seeing this on public property is a rare sight.

Still there as of 2017.

Abandoned traffic signals.

Although the area has changed much since then, wonder why the old signals were never activated and just left to be damaged/flashing?

Just because a signal remains in a permanent flash cycle does not necessarily mean it's abandoned...

A Durasig 12 inch pedestrian signal with either a damaged lense or a bright light that nearly hides the "DON'T WALK" lense.

The Durasig on the right is alarmingly dim, or it's the sun.

Another incandescent Durasig, slanted slightly most likely due to shifting in the mast clips holding the signal to the mast.

Neither. That's what happens when an incandescent bulb stays on for so long, it causes the plastic film to heat and melt, thus showing the whole range and not just the word outline.

I know ASDA is the British subsidary of Wal-Mart, but why include the Walmart name here? I've never seen it anywhere else.

Since then, the Walmart name was dropped from the sign.
I seen it here too on this older streetview:

And, if you're a Keeping Up Appearances fan, you might notice this on-site petrol station was used in one of the episodes.
