Those are actually really common here nowadays. Most new installations use them.

Found some writing on this hybrid bell. (Anyone have any idea why it's on there?)

Maybe it was one of the ones checked by the quality control people before the batch got shipped out?

That's possible, the writing is gone when they went through in October of last year...

Found this picture of a "Road & Cycle Safety Centre" in Australia, which has a pair of gateless signals in use at it.

There's a railway that runs around the Caribbean Market & Gardens and there's a few signals in there. This one's at the entrance and has Safetran Mechanical bell and a WABCO bell! Guess their not dead in Melbourne! :TUP1:

Found this unusual setup for a one-way crossing at Dunmore NSW, on a siding that goes to the quarry there. Looks a lot like an American crossing.

there also used to be a second crossing here that had teardrop bells, but it was closed not long after these images were taken.

A little further to the south is Bombo Quarry, also with it's own siding and unusual crossing.

It also has a pedestrian crossing. Not sure what the red things are that are fixed on top of the masts, they look like Roshni sounders but it would be very strange to have them mounted facing up!

Found a signal maintainer doing maintenance at Bonbeach.

Mix of WRRS & Westinghouse gate mechanisms.

Really out of sync gate mechanisms.

This picture taken by PJV in 1976 shows this crossing in Watsonia with no crossbucks what so ever! Sadly, this crossing is long gone as they grade separated it (along with three other nearby crossings) when they duplicated the line between Macleod and Greensborough.

PJV's site also has loads of pictures showing off the project.
