This has been tipped off to me by several viewers as a very rare horn. The unit is PNWR 3603...

Metrolink has those bad, quiet P2s, which everyone hates.

However, some engineers are starting to use the K5LAs!

The P2 is on a solenoid button, which also activates the bell & ditch flashers.
The K5LA is on a lever in the locomotives, and on a cord in the cabcars.

The engineers can use the K5LA at any time, and some have chosen to.

However, they still have to blow the P2 at the same time, to make the bell & ditch flashers activate.

Here are some examples; many of them sound wonderful, due to rare usage.

Metrolink F59PHI #887 at Ocreanside, CA.

F59PH #869 at Santa Ana.

F59PHI #885 at Glendale, CA

F59PH #862 at Palmdale, CA

Cabcar #615

On the other hand, they aren't always good.

This cabcar sounds like an out of tune K3LA! :Awww:
