Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
Some interesting views from a crossing in Adelaide. It is at South Rd, Croydon and the crossing is being replaced by an overpass.
Back in 2009 the crossing still had m-bells. There are also traffic lights at the crossing, but only in one direction. Interesting bell mount used, I wonder why it wasn't just placed on top of the mast?

By 2013 the m-bells had been replaced by Safetran type 3 e-bells, notice how they still went with the strange bell mount. One pair of lights has a different kind of crossarm without a junction box. It's interesting how the gated signals have WCH bases, but the gate mechs are WRRS.

I'm guessing you got the inspiration from the post I did on Anderson Road in Sunshine?McK&H.Aust wrote:Some interesting views from a crossing in Adelaide. It is at South Rd, Croydon and the crossing is being replaced by an overpass.

Metro, why do you keep removing Mechanical bells?!

I actually found out about it when I was looking for information and news about the level crossing removals in Melbourne, I stumbled across this http://www.infrastructure.sa.gov.au/nsc ... ns_projectTrickyMario7654 wrote:I'm guessing you got the inspiration from the post I did on Anderson Road in Sunshine?

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
Looking at the list of crossings, I noticed that most of the ones still in early planning are on the Frankston Line. It was interesting to read an article that says the line runs through some marginal electorates, and that many locals are against the proposed "skyrail" plans (they even have their own anti skyrail website http://noskyrailfrankstonline.org) I think it would be an eyesore, specially being so close to the water.
On the list for the Frankston line this would be my favourite, it still has hybrid bells, old gate mechs and wishbone gates.
Eel Race Rd, Carrum https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-38.082 ... 312!8i6656 https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-38.082 ... 312!8i6656
Looks like the crossing had just activated when the google car went past. It seems that the signal on the left has both lights on at once, maybe it's just the way the image was taken.

It also has a cool street name. The weird thing is that only 500 cars use it in the morning peak. Strange how it's on the list...McK&H.Aust wrote:On the list for the Frankston line this would be my favourite, it still has hybrid bells, old gate mechs and wishbone gates.

Yeah I like the name too, that's one crossing I would like to film. 500 cars is nothing, and they are not touching other crossings that are much busier. What a waste of money, of course there are politics involved, either that or they are just plain stupid. Even on streetview the road looks quiet.

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
Not to mention, that terrible accident that occurred at Union Road, Surrey Hills in September. I bet the Libs' will try to get rid of that crossing first thing if they get elected in the 2018 state election...McK&H.Aust wrote:TrickyMario7654 wrote:McK&H.Aust wrote:On the list for the Frankston line this would be my favourite, it still has hybrid bells, old gate mechs and wishbone gates.

Why I don't like whoever maintains the signals in Victoria.
Classic Signals in Wallan, VIC!
Old WRRS gate mechs, wishbone gates, and a Teardrop Bell!
