Re: Some flat sounding bells

Here's a flat sounding wch mechanical bell underneath the Truman Rd bridge in Kansas City, Missouri.
Sounded reasonably healthy back in 2014... probably gong rotation? (1:26)
Flasher was on the fritz at the beginning in that left signal as well..
Depends, all i can think of is the winters in Missouri, or just gong rotation.ZachL wrote: Mon Aug 19, 2019 2:58 pmFlasher was on the fritz at the beginning in that left signal as well..
also, I agree something is off. how does a bell go from perfect to flat in that little time?![]()
Well, listening to this video, it seems like the bell was already starting to have trouble back in 2014, as it was ringing rather unevenly when Kight last recorded it:NathanFromEngland wrote: Mon Aug 19, 2019 4:40 pmDepends, all i can think of is the winters in Missouri, or just gong rotation.ZachL wrote: Mon Aug 19, 2019 2:58 pmFlasher was on the fritz at the beginning in that left signal as well..

Because after all, the temperatures can drop presumably low enough for bells to freeze and become damaged, now i'm not an expert but we have seen frozen gongs before.

Well, a close-up of the signal with the bad bell was gotten recently. The bell has gotten a bit of a tune-up, but it still misses a good few beats while ringing:ZachL wrote: Sat Jul 20, 2019 11:38 amHonestly it is kinda hard to tell since the GS Type 3 is rather loudfreebrickproductions wrote: Sat Jul 20, 2019 1:07 am One of the Hybrids here sounds rather horrible:
Makes me wonder if it's either not getting enough voltage or if something is causing the magnet to malfunction?freebrickproductions wrote: Thu Aug 22, 2019 1:25 amWell, a close-up of the signal with the bad bell was gotten recently.
