I know around here cantilever lights where the first ones that started changing over to 12 inch lights back in the 80's... mast lights usually stayed at 8 inches for awhile longer. The same thing happened when LED's came into the RR market... they started replacing cantilever lights with them primarily at first. I assume that was due to the LED's lasting longer and meaning less maintenance required and less danger for the maintainer needing to work out on the cantilever.

Probably. I know that L&N installed 12 inch lights on the overhead part of a cantilever with 8 inch lights on the masts for a while.

Unfortunately, 15th Avenue was repaved so there is nothing left of the abandoned crossing there except for the old ROW. :Awww:
