Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
The thread is called "Google Maps Scavenger Hunt" so why not post something people have to hunt for?
Can you find the crossing remnant?
Anyways to make up for that I found some weird 45 Cross bucks on an old piece of CNJ Track that has been abandoned for some time.
Almost looks like there would be a bell on top at this crossing.
I would assume maybe lights aswell. A majority of this line (in the abandoned locations) has plenty of 8 in lights.

You misspelled the town name. It's "Rosanna", not "Rosama".NathanFromEngland wrote:Active pedestrian crossing in Rosama, Victoria.

Metro, why do you keep removing Mechanical bells?!

Fixed.
This is some interesting railroad preemption, i guess the amber light comes on and switches to red. Or the amber light starts flashing and then the lights change to red.

Probably not as it was very uncommon for signals to have 45 degree crossbucks, and those also look to be just posts and not signals.Erik-Gorb-Hamilton wrote: I would assume maybe lights aswell. A majority of this line (in the abandoned locations) has plenty of 8 in lights.

I just now noticed this, it looks like they had a lot of rain a bit before streetview came through back in September of 2008!Joosh wrote:Yeah, that was the only thing I could think of for the extra lights. A lot of the crossing signals on that line seemed to have extra pairs of lights for nearby driveways and other pathways people could drive on.ToledoRailfan wrote:Joosh wrote: Three pairs of lights on the front of this signal?![]()

These lights are for this, and these lights are for this. Still pretty odd and interesting though.

Good Stuff! Supposedly this is a Sacramento Northern remnant.

I figured as such cause these crossbucks seem to be newer then the ones I usually find. Most ones I have found are wood posts where as this one is a metal post (Which i have never seen before)
When did the railroads stop using 45 Degree crossbucks as the standard?
