I'm not trying to sound harsh...I was just wondering.

Does anybody have any photo requests? I can get pictures of pretty much anything on the locomotive. Just keep in mind I won't be able to get them until Sunday.

Hey guys....sorry I haven't updated this thread.

I've been really hitting the pavement hard, trying to find a full-time job that pays worth a damn and because of that, the 4449 has taken a back seat. I'm definitely going in on Thursday and I'll shoot some cab photos along with a video tour. Stay tuned.

Okay, guys. Your patience has paid off in dividends! Here are the cab photos along with a few others. The full video of the locomotive walk around and cab tour is about ten minutes from being done uploading to YouTube. Once that is complete, I'll put it up here.

The engineer's controls


This Southern Pacific herald on the floor is not original. It was put in when the original floor was removed during the locomotive's 1975 restoration.


The firebox minus the fire.

This art deco figure can be found in numerous places around the locomotive although most of them are hidden. This one is painted on the inside of the cab's rear air vent.


Seating for a total of four! Bring two of your closest friends.

The locomotive is dedicated to Jack Holst, a Southern Pacific employee who tended to the 4449 and her Oaks Park sisters during their stay there. Sadly, Holst died in 1972 and never got to see the locomotive return to service. Had it not been for his dedication, the 4449 would likely have been unrestorable.


This is Crater Kitty...one of two of the roundhouse cats. The guys like to joke that this cat was white when she first arrived.

Nice SP logo embedded on the floor. The controls look quite complicating.
