Today I passed a local gas station close to my home and it was selling a $1.65. Then, an hour later I went by it again going the other direction... $1.99!

I filled up at a Chevron in Vancouver because I was there and enjoy pumping my own gas (I HATE the Oregon self-service ban). I paid 2.11 which doesn't really bother me because Washington state requires up to 10% ethanol blended gasoline while Oregon requires a 10% ethanol/90% gasoline blend. Vancouver gas has consistently returned 8% ethanol in studies and I always get better mileage on Washington gas. For example, my gauge did not start the drop from the 'F' until 45 miles after fill-up. On Oregon gas it starts to drop at 33 miles like clockwork.
The mileage differential and distance to the closest Vancouver station from my house (13.3 miles) is not worth the trip for the better gasoline although my car seems to like it more. I save a minute amount but it's more wear and tear on the car (26 miles a week for gas, do the math) so I do it once every three months when it seems my car is becoming tired of the E10 blended crap.
While on my trip last summer, I got straight gasoline in Idaho and the damn thing loved me for it...ran like it hasn't since it was new.

I don't want to burn ethanol in my gas truck. It doesn't run right on it, it isn't designed to, and it never will.
In my diesel, I want sulphur back in my diesel fuel, so I don't have to keep adding stuff to it each fillup so my injectors stay lubricated.
And enjoy these fuel prices while you can, I am telling you, mark my words, they haven't started monkeying with it yet, but it's coming......
tax and spend, tax and spend, got a problem, just throw some more of our money at it.
I know...it's sickening. Michigan is now considering on messing with the gas tax...making it kind of like a variable rate credit card. The higher the price...the higher the tax...as opposed to the 0.19/gallon tax flat rate we have now. They say it'll go towards the roads...yeah right....
