It would be appropriate if that was for a crossing that had a signal for the same direction of travel with the lights on top.

Sadly the crossing at Griffith and all of the signs have since been removed, not sure if the track was removed or just paved over but it's now difficult to see that the crossing ever existed.
Here's a strange one at Port Kembla NSW. This is the original advance warning sign with a hazard triangle in 2007, it is mounted on a power pole.
