I think I've seen inages of that crossing pop up every now and then. Definitely a very unique crossing!
Nice job on hitting 2.4k posts. :Tongue2:

When was that line taken out of service? I can't find any information about it, or else i'm just TL;DR'ing.

I'm not sure. If you look at the streetviews of the former crossing from 2007, you could see that some track and even the crossing itself was still there.

Wonder if the signal facing the removed track still works?

I also wonder why the signals facing the tracks have four sections...
Yes it appears to be still working, at least as of 2014. It looks like that one on the right has double reds which might explain the 4 sections. However, the one on the left just has one light illuminated, and it looks like it's yellow.

Looks like they're both red, with the top section not lit-up:

Technically that's a passive crossing and not one protected by signals, since the signals likely serve the intersection there. Although they probably do enter a preemption cycle when a train is approaching.

There are also signals directing the rail traffic when to stop and when to proceed... so there certainly is a preemption of some kind.

Yep. The signal is just missing the diffuser, which causes it to look like that.
